HOW OUR JEWELRY IS MADE
A Slow, Thoughtful, Handcrafted Process
Every piece of DORI jewelry is handmade through a slow, intentional process that blends traditional Indian craftsmanship with modern design. We don’t believe in rushing beauty, and we definitely don’t believe in mass-production.
Our process is rooted in three things:
artistry, authenticity, and attention to detail.
This is how your DORI jewelry comes to life.
1. It Starts With a Story
Every DORI design begins with inspiration — from travels across India, heritage crafts, architecture, textiles, nature, and everyday beauty. Our design team sketches pieces that stay true to our ethos: bold, expressive, wearable, handmade jewelry that celebrates individuality.
Once a design is approved, it is sent to our artisans across Jaipur, Rajasthan, and India.
2. Shaping the Base: Brass or Pure Silver
We primarily work with brass and pure silver as the foundation for our jewelry.
In the workshop, artisans:
-
Cut the metal by hand
-
Shape it using traditional tools
-
Hammer, mold, and refine structure
-
Create curves, motifs, loops, and settings
This stage demands precision and patience — it’s the backbone of your jewelry.
3. Selecting & Setting the Stones
Our semi-precious stones are sourced from
Sri Lanka • Jaipur • Indian gem markets
known globally for quality and character.
Behind the scenes, artisans hand-select stones for:
-
Colour
-
Shape
-
Texture
-
Rawness
-
Overall visual harmony with the design
Whether it’s ruby, rose quartz, aquamarine, peridot, kundan, or sapphire, every stone is placed and set manually.
No two stones are identical — and no two DORI pieces will ever be the same.
4. Soldering: Where the Form Comes Alive
This is one of the most detailed stages in jewelry making.
Using micro tools, artisans join pieces of metal together by hand. This includes:
-
Soldering motifs
-
Connecting links
-
Fixing stone settings
-
Building the final shape of the piece
A single necklace or earring can take hours of hand-soldering, especially when it involves intricate detailing.
5. Polishing & Surface Finishing
Before plating, each piece goes through multiple cycles of polishing, filing, and texturing.
This ensures:
-
Smooth surfaces
-
Clean edges
-
Comfortable wear
-
Beautiful finish
Every polish is done by hand — this is where the piece begins to shine.
6. 18K Gold Plating
All DORI pieces are finished with premium 18K gold plating for durability, shine, and elegance.
The plating process involves:
-
Cleaning the metal thoroughly
-
Preparing the surface for even bonding
-
Dipping and coating the jewelry
-
Sealing the plating for longevity
This is what gives DORI its signature warm, rich, luminous glow.
7. Final Assembly & Detailing
Once plated, each piece is assembled with closures, hooks, chains, or findings. Every element is checked for:
-
Strength
-
Smooth movement
-
Secure fastening
-
Comfort on the skin
This ensures the jewelry feels as good as it looks.
8. Quality Check: Up to 15 Hands Touch Each Piece
Before a piece is ready to be worn, it passes through 10–15 layers of quality inspection, including:
-
Stone stability check
-
Plating consistency
-
Smooth finishing
-
Comfort and wearability
-
Structural strength
-
Shine accuracy
We don’t believe in shortcuts — only craftsmanship that feels personal.
9. Thoughtful, Sustainable Production
We create in small batches to minimize waste and maximize quality.
Any unsold pieces at the end of a season are:
-
Melted down
-
Recycled into new designs
-
Stones re-used
-
Metals reworked
Nothing is wasted. Everything is repurposed with intention.
10. From Our Hands to Yours
When you wear DORI, you wear:
-
Hours of artisanal work
-
Slow-made craftsmanship
-
Generations of Indian jewelry heritage
-
Ethical, small-batch production
-
A piece made entirely by hand
This is why your DORI jewelry feels personal, soulful, and full of character.
Every piece carries a story — and now, it becomes part of yours.
